Plug and Play tuner install in 2003 F-150
I snapped some quick photos of my PNP install. I'll get some better ones one day when I'm home during daylight.
A coworker told me he mounts his antenna on the dashboard inside the vehicle. Easy to swap between vehicles w/o buying more $50 mounts.
97-03 F-150's have an oval cover on the dashboard from about the center to the passenger side. This just pops off with a thin screwdriver. I used double sided tape to hold the antenna on the dash, then ran the wire under that oval dash cover.
Next, I ran the wire between the radio and center-right vent to the pull out cupholder area. The trim piece surrounding the radio/HVAC controls just pulls right off. Be careful of the wire connectingthe ESOF 4x4 switch if you have it. The extra antenna wire is bundled up, zip tied, and set under the dash cover. The wire comes out at the bottom of the trim under that vent.
The power source is close, with extra wire hidden in the cupholder. I used more double sided tape to hold the tuner/dock to the top of the ash tray in the cupholder.
Not bod looking for a 5 minute install IMO. When winter is over, I may change the install. For now, here are some pics.
