Question Why different camera angle for Ford ONLY???

I've been looking at the IIHS site and noticed that the camera angle at the point of impact is different for the Ford compared to the other three. Any ideas?

The angle is different because the truck shifted 20 degrees to the right after the fatal crash due to poor frame construction. You Ford lovers need to research the frame construction on the American built Toyota Tundra (Ford: build it Canada or Mexico). 5 peice frame is superior to Fords 3 peice. Good luck with your resale value, I know that my Tundra is now worth 10percent more after those pictures. Hehehe!

Toys, I was hoping for some intelligent comments. Your remarks say much about your level of intellect. Look at the barrier at the moment of impact and the wall behind. The camera is in a different position for the F-150 shot.

You'd better run along home now before mummy gets worried.

Cool

Hey Goerge.
You notice everything. I have no ideas why angle would make a difference as far as crash results. How did the f-150 fair? maybe they had a biased camera operator? a "fake truck lover". ie..tundra perv with limited intellectual ability.

The camera angle is different, no doubt about that one, but I don't think it makes any difference in the final results. It appears that the barrier and the trucks are all aligned the same, judging by the lines in the floor.

Cool

The camera angle is questionable, but the passenger compartment integrity is very clear.

Toys...go back to your own site you TROLL! Why does the Tundra get much lower ratings in the NHTSA frontal crash test..the lowest )3 out of 5 stars)?

I still would not own a TOYota over my F-150. How nice you took the time to become a member and talk ****. "Proud owner of 2000 Toyota Tundra 4x4 Ltd TRD ed." .... I feel sorry for you.....

It is now obvious to me why the Tundra did so good. Just look at the pics. Since they chose a 4-wheel drive Tundra, its impact was directed towards the floor-board area and also towards the stronger part of the safety cage. (This is probably why the spare tire in the back was knocked out, as well as the front tire) All the american trucks are 2wd, lower to the gound and therefore the impact was a more direct blow. They should compare apples to apples.

Question

My reason for asking this question is simple. The IIHS "claimed" to have subjected all the vehicles to the same test. In three of those pictures the camera is in the same position, yet for the F-150 the camera is at least six feet over to the right. Does this mean that the F-150 was tested on a different day? Was the camera moved to make the impact appear more sensational? Perhaps the camera is on a track traveling at the same speed as the truck. If that's the case, the implication is that the F-150 was going faster than the camera. The same would not be true for the other trucks tested. If I were Ford, I would demand that the F-150 be tested again, or do my own test.

GAH. The camera stays in one spot as the test takes place, a total failure of the passenger compartment would be sensational from any angle on any day.

I am suspicious of why they tested a Tundra 4x4 since the others were 4x2s.

Question

Indyfan:
How do you know that the Tundra was a 4x4 and the others were 4x2's? If that's true it's certainly another reason to perform the tests again.
