Over torque a lugnut
Over torque a lugnut
And the dealer ship up here wants $90 for a new bolt + an hour's worth of bread for the table.
I did a search, but I'd like to know the details I guess. I've got a '99 Lightning so I assume I have to get a 12mm bolt? ANyone have a part number?
This is what I think I am going to have to do:
Take off tire,
take off brake caliper
take off the rotor
hopefully there'll be something on the inside of the rotor that will let me thread whats left of the bolt through
then thread new one through and put truck back together.
Does this sound right? I'm not a complete fool (hence not letting the dealer take my $160).
I've heard is a good 4 hour job. I appreciate the input.

It is easy to replace a wheel Stud . All ya have to do is, Get a really big hammer and whack whats left of the stud. If it is busted off flush with the rotor (you may have to remove the rotor) use a large drift or punch to drive it out. Once it is out it it a very simple thing to replace, Just insert the new stud in the hole and use a lug nut to pull it into place. Make sure it is straight before you start pulling it in. Also, I have learned to use good quality tools when you do this. I lost all my front teeth when the four-way snapped.
