Will I kill my truck doing burnouts?
So I've been dying to do a burnout in my '07 FX2, but will I hurt it?
5.4, automatic. I just want to do it a couple times for fun, not concerned about my back tires. I just don't want to damage something expensive, ie the tranny or diff |
wow....really??? grow up??
|
you gotta pay to play
|
You help it get a little stronger each time you do a burnout.

oh come on, nobody has a little kid inside them? i could just go sit on my porch in a rocking chair yelling at kids to get off my lawn if that's what's cool nowadays.
i'm not asking for sarcasm, i'm just asking if a stock tranny can handle it or if it's just going to damage it with a few seconds of burnouts once or twice. |
I do burn outs in my 06 and so far no problems, my trans is stock I just have a custom tune.

I just don't want to damage something expensive, ie the tranny or diff if you are going to put in gear and stomp it then probably not (unless you twist off a u-joint and take out the fuel tank or something if you are going to powerbrake it, then there's a chance you could warp your rear rotors now I'm not trying to scare you as it's your truck, sure you might break something but thats what you risk anyway each and everytime you start it up |

go to about 30 seconds, Just a time or two isnt going to hurt it |
chances are youll be fine but theres always a chance something can go wrong
|
Trucks aren't made to burn out. They were built to go slow, not handle, and get out preformed by every other vehicle on the road.
Please never do a burnout in a truck. EVER! |
always a chance something could break but unlikely in my book. I would think its still hard on it though. I just prefer not to do it myself but hey its your truck

Please never do a burnout in a truck. EVER! wish I could light them up like that, and still pass emissions. |
They only thing I would worry about is not to overheat the transmission other than that I would not worry. Built Ford tough as the saying goes m2c

Buy a Lightning...then roast 'em all you want.
Seriously...use the powerbrake method, not the neutral drop method. Jim |
