My 502 Chevelle would break loose at 50. Now if you want something that I think is an impossibility, check out the ending of 'The Fast And The Furious". Has anyone else ever seen a car do a wheel stand WHILE smoking the tires like that?

I just can't fathom it unless you are dropping into gear from neutral. Are any of these automatics that you are speaking of?

Lightings ARE automatics.

Why is it so hard to believe? MY Mustang will smoke'em at 45-50 in third, no down shifting needed, just pop your foot off, then mash'er down. My Lightning, 35 and under, I can't get passed 2/3 throttle or they will breake loose. And my SVT Focus will light'em up at 50 if I drop it down to second. (I can take 2nd to 67mph at 7200rpms, oh, and it has 299 hp to the wheels thanks to about 10 grand over the last 3 years.)

Oh, and you go on a head and do a neutral drop 45 or 50, and hope you don't start spitting gears all over the highway or drop a drive shaft.

Automatics have neutral but I was being sarcastic. The reason I can't fathom it probably has to do with the fact that the fastest thing I've driven in was an '03 Mustang. I need to test drive something besides trucks.

Well that makes saince then, a stock Mustang wont brake em loose over 10 or 15 with out dumping the clutch. No hard feeling though.

Were you on ice? That doesn't even sound possible, even with a depthly modded 5.7 (if thats what is in the 92's).

Wanna hear crazy wheelspin? Try 390lb-ft of torque in a 2400lb FWD car with a 4:18:1 gear ratio. I can get on it in 5th on a cold day and spin the tires past 100mph, from a roll. I one time gassed it until the speedometer read 130mph, let off and it dropped right down to 100mph. Apparently, the tires were doing 130, the car was doing 100. Yikes.

1st gear isn't too bad because of lag, 2nd is constant feathering of the throttle, 3rd, 4th and 5th require a little feathering, but once it hooks up it's fine.

I've never had the ***** to run it at its current power with slicks. The local track was (since been bulldozed, SoCal sucks for cars) pretty bumpy and 24.5" tall balloons with only 13psi in them can be scary when they're on the steering wheels at 140+mph. Maybe next time at Pomona's Import Battle...

See my sig for my best time. That was driving it to/from the track with only a minor tire pressure adjustment (25psi hot, any less and it's scary on the big end). The car will probably do lower 11s/upper 10s with a good launch but I didn't really build it for drag racing. ~130mph traps do raise some eyebrows when they see it's basically a near stock looking sentra...

Best part is seeing hundreds of feet of rubber with 4 breaks in it...

My GNs can break the tires loose at 55mph on 255-50-16 street tires.I am running 25psi of boost with alcohol injection. It can be a handful when the car wants to get sideways at 55mph.

My 6 cyl GNs can do it no problem but I'm having trouble believing a full size truck with a n/a V6 can do it.
