Gallery Trouble
I just tried to create a photo gallery here, but something's screwy. I followed directions, but all of my pictures come up as white/red X's. I know this usually means there is a problem with either the file type or extension, but I did everything by the book. The only picture it took was the very first one I uploaded, for the homepage picture. Oddly enough, I later tried to change that picture, and everything seemed to go correctly, but when it was finished, I still had the first picture. They are all .jpeg.
There was a note that came up on the "add details" page after I uploaded each picture, that says not to worry if the picture doesn't appear, because it's a glitch with some browsers, but that it had in fact been uploaded. So, I continued to upload 21 pictures. Did I waste my time?
Can anyone else see them (there's a link in my sig)?
I'm confused.
Again.
Any thoughts?
Take care,
-Chris

Still researching.
Can you successfully upload the same photo into an album that you uploaded as your gallery cover? Can you upload an image that can't upload into an album as your gallery cover?

I just tried changing the cover picture, and it goes through all the motions, but the picture didn't change.
Also, I have received this note a few times:

Your original picture is probably cached by your browser, click reload a couple of times and see if it changed...also, if you get the error message you posted, simply click on the back button and resubmit the form...or hit reload...
You are correct. The image I loaded to the cover this morning is there now. So why won't the albums accept them? Is there a size limit for each pic in the albums?
I already figured out how to get around that error, but I thought it might be of significance to you. Remember, I'm a Mac man. I don't need to understand command lines and HTML.
Thanks for taking the time with this, Steve.
Really.
Take care,
-Chris

Hmmmm. I just tried starting a second album, with only one small picture. So small, in fact, it's one of my avatars, and I had the same results. It was .jpeg as well.

A couple more questions...
1) When you get to the page to upload images to an album, how many fields are on the page (i.e. how many images can you upload at one time, 1 or 5?)
2) Are you able to upload the cover image to an album?
Steve

The page only permitted me to upload one picture at a time.
Both of the cover pictures I have used have also been uploaded to the album, but neither are visible there.

Ok, turns out there is a bug with application server I use when it comes to macs, file uploads and Internet Explorer (though they won't admit it)...
I put together a potential "fix"...when you have the chance, try uploading a photo to your album and see what happens...please keep in mind that I don't have a Mac to work with, so eve if I made a simple error in the code I wouldn't know. I'll rely on Mac testers to let me know. Thanks!

I deleted my old galleries, and started a new one. When I hit "browse" for a picture, I received this message:

Come on, Steve, Macs are pretty easy. Would it work better if I tried to upload through netscape?

Ok, so we are starting from scratch now...
1) Logout of the gallery admin, close your browser window, reopen your browser and log back in. This should ensure that all of the cookies for your gallery session are deleted.
2) It appears that you have added an album, so Click on the "Add Photos" link...let me know what happens from there.
What you described cannot happen...in sort-of technical terms, the error you report happened on the server, what you described (clicking on "browse") happens on the client level and could not have ocurred without clicking the submit button. I think there is a step that you did that you omitted...
BTW, Netscape will likely fix the upload problem, as the bug has been reported on Internet Explorer...but rather than making our Mac contingent use a different browser that what they prefer, I'd rather find a workaround for IE...
