Arrow Computer Slow... Help Please

When I go to the Lightning forum I have to wait more than *one minute* for the page to load. Then when I click a thread it takes more than *one* minute for THAT page to load. This has been going on for some time now! It's worse than being on a 14.4 modem, and I have cable.

Am I the only one that has this problem? Everyone, please help if you can. Go to the Lightning forum and see how long it takes you and post it here.

I would really appreciate your help.

Chikenears,

Once the page loads, what banner ad is at the top of the page? Tirerack? Ford Collection? What browser are you using and what version? Does this occur in any other forum? Or any other site?

Did the screenshot you posted here occur after sitting through a delay like you noted above? In other words, did you wait 60 seconds for the exact screen you captured?

Since it is probably not a browser issue, have you tried a tracert? If a delay like this occurs again, do the following and post the results here...

Assuming Windows?

Go to Start --> Run --> command

Once at the DOS prompt, type in "tracert f150online.com" (w/o the quotes)

Steve,

Some sites are slower than others on the net, as you know, but this one is the slowest of all and it's the one that I visit the most. It DOES occur on other forums on this site but not as often as the Lightning forum.

What's weird about it is that *rarely* it's very quick to load but those times are few and far between. It doesn't seem to matter what time of day either.

Any suggestions, I will try.

Yes it did.

It occurs constantly and I've done a tracert before. The results showed a fast connection to f150 but it's when I click the link to the forums that I have to wait.

Assuming Windows?

Yes, windows Millenium Edition.

Go to Start --> Run --> command

Once at the DOS prompt, type in "tracert f150online.com" (w/o the quotes)
I'm going to run tracert now and post the results but remember that it's only after getting into the site that the *slow* problem starts. BRB

I think you probably perceive it as the slowest because you spend the most time on it.

With that said, I would recommend that you do the tracert that I noted in the post above. To get to this (or any) site, a series of "hops" occurs between servers. It will tell us if there is a bottleneck in one of the hops between you and the f150online.com server that is causing a slowness problem.

Currently the server load is very low and we have plenty of available memory, so the speed problem is probably not you or us, rather something in between.

In between, like my ISP? This happens everyday and it's not that I percieve it to be slow, it IS slow as molasses. It's like watching the grass grow.

I ran tracert and it timed out several times, showing no results. I'm thinking it's my ISP, which is roadrunner. It used to be fast when I first started visiting f150 back in October of last year.

Does this sound reasonable to you? Other sites aren't as fast as they used to be but they're *never* as slow as this one.

Any and all feedback is welcome. Thanks

Can you post the results of the complete tracert? Let is run all the way through until its complete...it should be 20 "hops" by default.

3 seconds, hehe. I have found that by quiting all (most of them that arent important, like CD creator) my things below and right, seems to speed up the net..

Just a suggestion, sorry I dont know more about this computer stuff.

ford-trucks.com will be next. It's taking me forever to just talk to you. When I go to boomspeed.com to upload a pic, like I'm having to do each time, THAT site is fast. When I click to return here, it's slow as crap. I think faulty modem but when I access other sites lightning fast, I wonder if I'm right. It's like the bottleneck is at f150. I'll try ford-trucks.com now. BRB

I had to delete the other screen captures from my photohost in order to upload more. That's why you don't see them now. Sorry, I hope we didn't need these.

This is common. Right now I have been clicking refresh to see if you have posted a reply and it's refreshing in *one* second or less! THAT is fast! Most of the time it takes over *one* minute. Go figure! I'm puzzled!
