Computer Slow... Help Please
Chikenears,
Please do me a favor...copy and paste the results of the tracert to f150online.com and ford-trucks.com in your message (not as a screenshot, but the entire content of the tracert). You can do this by highlighting the information (it will turn white) and clicking once on the small "c:\" icon at the top left of the window. From that menu choose Edit and then Copy...this will copy the information to your Windows "clipboard" and allow you to paste it into a message. Without 100% of the tracert information I cannot assess what may be going on.

I have already tried the dos icon and edit shows but copy isn't highlighted. I can't copy it because of this. I know I need to highlight it but I can't click and drag across to highlight it. Is there another way to select the text to copy?
Ok, try this (I am using Windows 2000 which is a little different)...
When the tracert is complete, click on the MSDOS icon and go to the Edit menu. Is "mark" an option? If so, choose mark and that should let you highlight text in that window. Once highlighted, go back to that menu and choose "copy."

I had to do these using Programs/Accessories/dos prompt. Using Run would close as soon as it finished without giving me a chance to copy. I'm learning! Yahooooo!!

Well, I think we have found the root of the problem.
Next time it is slow, do a tracert on this site and ford-trucks.com and see what the results are. I would be willing to bet that there is a "hop" in between you and us that times out or takes a long time.
Visiting a website is like driving to your friend's house. You don't just pull out of your driveway and wind up in his. You take several roads, a few turns, perhaps a highway, etc. When visiting a website, you leave your server, bounce to another server, then yet another server, and finally to your destination server. Sometimes there are problems, like traffic, in between.
Because ford-trucks.com is like your friend's next door neighbor (our servers reside in the same data center), the same traffic that slows you down when visiting us, will slow you down when visiting them...I actually use this technique to double-check that there aren't problems with our server.

I think I see what you are saying Steve. Evertime I click another link, like a thread, post reply, refresh, or whatever at f150online, I'm in effect driving the entire trip again with the last hop being the link that I clicked. Is this right?

OK Steve, one more question and I swear I'll leave you alone!
I have talked to several people that visit your site and everyone I have talked to says they have no problems.
If I change ISP's is there a chance that the route will change and possibly I will avoid such a traffic jam? Now that I understand WHAT is going on, I want to fix it.
Thanks a million Steve.
