Actually... they're feeding you a line, Pat.

It was a fleet of alien space craft. They are very small and landed within a significant server at IB headquarters in California. While within the server, they found a small piece of wire and soldered it over to their space craft so that they could refuel (it's a hybrid fleet).

We have conversed extensively with the aliens and they have assured us that future landings will be better coordinated with the tech team. It's disappointing that our border control didn't seize their craft but, being that they were a friendly race, it's probably better that we allowed them to travel on...

Their trip was not without loss, however. While crossing the wires and soldering, the lead flight engineer stepped on a power supply lead and crossed it over with a printed circuit board... this is the end result.

On behalf of IB, we would like to our condolences to Ralph's family (the flight engineer) and offer our sincere apologies to the Lhamatar Aliens.

Those silly Lhamatar's... they must have landed in your computer too. They say that it's an easy source of energy... *shrugs*

You might open up your computer case and see if there are any crispy critters (as photographed above) within you case...

I've never liked AD campaigns. There just isn't something legit about it... even after all these years. But who am I?

The amount of bandwidth taken on a site like this about ~21 GB per day with an estimate of ~79,354 pages viewed.

Now multiply that by 1 month... you get ~630 GB per month with ~2,380,620 pages viewed. Not much traffic at all!

As far as webspace is concerned, I doubt I'd need much more than 500 gigs to house the site and I can get 6000 GB of Web Traffic (which is overkill). I just need a license of VBulletin which looks like they are having a sale for 1 license only $235 which includes the Forums, Blogs, and CMS modules. Plus I'd could get it hosted for around ~$30 bucks a month on dedicated servers with a rapid response guarantee.

So yes, if I owned it, there would be no ADs. Hosting websites is not rocket science nor is it expensive. You just need to know who to go with and who the heck to stay away from. But that's what knowledge I got from being in the field for so long.

Besides, I own sites much larger than this... this site is small.

I'm also willing to host these forums or find suitable hosting for them. Unfortunately, I don't think it's as simple as that. Something to do with this being a part of CarsDirect and CarsDirect being related to IB or something.

Not even a remote possibility...

Take a look at internetbrands.com and look at what they operate... I assure you that they have an air conditioned room with servers from wall to wall.

The failure was due to attacks. Just like anything else in the world, there will be failures...

We were down for nearly 48 hours... I had time to run to the 'adult beverage store' several times.

Nah... not much pain. Remember, I don't have a dog in this fight. I'm the unpaid help. I was just answering emails at an alarming pace (only to find out that most weren't making it out).

How about aggravation?

Glad everything is working again. I appreciate the updates Brad as I am sure the others do as well, def nice to have someone who pays attention despite the fact it is out of their control when something like that happens.

Not trying to insult anyone here but your statement is spoken from a true guy with money NOT a network tech/php coder/linux admin or anyone else with the knowledge of the inner workings.

If you have cash laying around sure you can go around and throw money at people to do things but doing it yourself will provide only one thing to that site....QUALITY....having someone else do it never makes a potential good site be the best it can be. Take this site for example, it's ran by corporate. If it was run by an individual it would be more user friendly and have an overall warm feeling.

Oh! That hurts! I think it has a warm, fuzzy feeling!
