- I know it was last night, I almost made a full pot of coffee before I got a page to load up. I didn't bother posting, - had to play catch up with PM's today and didn't get my garbage to the curb in time, -kicking myself, I new I should have done that last night.

Sounds like glc has a good idea, - idunno, somethings up.

Seems to be running okay today, just the usual slow ad servers.

Thanks for the suggestion there, glc. I've forwarded the thought over to the IB folks -- it may fall on deaf ears but, maybe someone can smack the bunny on the butt and ride it for a carrot.

I just wish there was something that can be done in the admin control panel to take care of it, but I don't think there is. In order to get my server rebooted or Apache restarted, I have to contact the site owner, who then has to drop a ticket on the host to have it done (we use a colo). You can do some database maintenance in there though, I dunno if any of that would really help. Maybe someone who knows the nuts and bolts of vBulletin better may have some insight for ya.

If IB has their own server farm, it shouldn't be a big deal to schedule periodic reboots/restarts as part of normal maintenance.

Yep... they run everything out of their server-plex so, I concur -- it should be somewhat easy to schedule it in with routine maintenance. Obviously, early early morning would be best for our core membership (US-based). 5am EST, or so.

Like you, I don't think there's a way to do it from the admin panel.... or, if there is, I'm not sure that I'd be comfortable smacking it.

You should forward this thread with all the complaints too, so they can see hard evidence and that we arent just whining :o

Nope, you can't restart anything in the admin panel - just various vBulletin diagnostic and maintenance functions. I leave almost all of them alone, there are a few that I use periodically for specific purposes. If you aren't familiar with all that stuff, leaving it alone is smart - unless you can get the IB guys to educate you. That's why I pretty much leave mine alone - I don't know enough to be safe. My site owner is a programmer and developer, that's his area.

Yeah... concurred. I've wondered around within those panels and have opted to not tweak anything. I feel confident that I'd screw something up...

It appears to be sluggish again today - I'm getting page loads at about dialup speed.

I'm experiencing weird page loads today. When a page loads I see text for an instant where the buttons and icons are on the page.

That's normal when the site itself is slow to load images. If you disable images in your browser, that's the text you will see instead of buttons and icons.

EDIT: Just got a duplicate post error on this post.

Man is this site incredibly slow. So I take it that it can't be fixed,- because it's getting worse. That's to bad, someone or something is ruining a good thing.
