Why do images in posts disappear?

I've noticed that some of my images in past posts have disappeared. Does anyone know what causes this to happen?

BTW, they were pics of vehicles, nothing bad.

Thanks

Maybe where they were hosted is having a prolbem. Is there a placeholder in their place? Like a red "x" in a box or some kind of notice? Best bet is go to a post with a missing picture and click on EDIT - then see if the reference to the picture is still in there.

The pics are in my gallery. I had some pics of my Vette' in the muscle car thread which disappeared and I noticed this morning that the pic I posted of the Lil' Red Express pick-up I posted in the f150stacks thread was gone. Not a big deal but just curious.

Thanks Stealth

Happy New Year

I can't find you even posting in the Stacks thread. Weird. Maybe I'm missing something too.

I see the vette pics in post 79, but nothing in post 16. I can see the img tags and properties in a quote though. Weird.

...very weird.

There aren't any settings that I know of that would tweak this type of thing. Images are enabled.

I'm going to fly this up the flagpole... thanks for bringing this up to us.

Here's another thread of mine where the pictures have been deleted. Post #1 contained multiple pictures that are gone now. However one of the image brackets are still there

I have had similar problems when posting a pic from another photo album like webshot or AOL pictures, when I post the picture would show up fine a a little while then I would check back after someone else had posted a response and you would see a box along with the text that says picture no longer available or has been removed.

I have had that problem from my AOL picture hosting. I wish that they had not done away with the old F-150 picture album, I had some of mine not resize correctly when i switched them over or uploaded to the new picture hosting program.

They haven't done away with the old galleries. IB is having a software conflict between the new vbulliten and the old gallery software (Remember, I'm just a mod). Something about it not being supported anymore, so they are working on a solution but the galleries are not gone forever, only not working at the moment.

All the pictures that have disappeared for me where in "My Albums" hosted here.

Either way, IB is working on it. Be patient.

I wonder if some sort of image limit was set by someone. I'll mention that to them at IB.

Are these images hosted within a 'NEW' gallery or one of the 'OLD' galleries (ie: a gallery that was created about a year ago)?

While we *are* having considerable problems with the old gallery system, no problems are known to exist within the new gallery system. If the photos that you're linking to are within an old gallery; the issue is a known one and I'm told that IB Is working to resolve it. It's out of my hands but, I'm working to stay on top of it and try to get it resolved. My apologies to everyone -- simply put though, it's one of those things that just doesn't fix itself overnight and will require some programming to bring them all together in happy unity.

They are hosted in the new gallery. The pics in the "58' Bonneville" thread where just uploaded in the beginning of Nov.

I deleted the pics of the Bonneville from my gallery. I thought that this may be the reason. However the pics of the Vette that disappeared in a thread are still in the gallery.

Lets say that I move the pics from one gallery to another. Could that be the culprit? I'm thinking I had the Vette pics under "My Truck" but later moved them and created a new gallery.
