Try one more thing to narrow it down before you upload. If you have parental controls disable them and leave everything "on" see if you can still get in

apparently there is a problem w/ your site and posting pics to galleries maybe? I read another post from yesterday, because my post was moved from this to the 'general questions' area. I can't tell you how many times I've read through questions on this '04-05 forum where people are asking how to post pics, and nice people reply to it and in turn it helps hundreds of people out all at the same time. So, instead of moving my post, either tell me how to fix the problem or get around it, or get it fixed please! I still am having the same problem.....login to galleries, it takes me directly to the create a gallery screen where everyone else's galleries and top 10's are listed, but no way for me to post pics or access my own. Hell, post some directions for god's sakes, maybe this won't be such an issue to new people and those who are learning how to post.

Do you really think that this is the way to get help? Seriously... do you?

I'm the one that moved your last post... and I will be moving this post as well.

Maybe if you'll sit tight, post your questions to the CORRECT FORUM, and be polite about requesting help... well, maybe then you'll get help.... for god's sake.

Why is that so hard for you to figure that one out.
If you look at the end of the url to your gallery it says ....gnum=5097

Your gallerynumber is 5097

Go to the messageboard
Left corner in the memberbar

Click UserCP
Go to Edit Profile

At the bottom you will find "Gallery Number" in the Additional Information Section

Add 5097 in that field.

why in the $##$ would someone have to turn their security features off on their computer in order to post some pics on a truck forum website? Rockpick, tell me, do YOU really think this is making sense? #1, I do NOT turn the security features of my computer off for any reason, I mean what do you think they're there for? So no I do not think this is a proper 'fix it' for this problem and I hope that others on here do not proceed to using that method. That's nothing more than a bandaid for the problem. Anyone w/ some common sense can figure that out. I'm really not trying to push your buttons and get you mad, I'm just stating some simple facts that lay out the situation. This site is kept up fairly well for as many people as are on here, but this is a problem to several now, so is there some kind of technical issue that can be improved on to help the users out w/ this gallery problem? Users are what makes the site in addition to the advertisers. I don't know, I just can't see having to alter your computer settings just to get some pics posted. I'm not real familiar w/ cookies problems, but I have all the cookies I've ever needed on my computer to hit up all the sites I visit, which is a lot. I've never really had this kind of problem before. Anyway, exercise your power, move my posts, whatever you wanna do. I think moving the thing is ridiculous because of the #'s of people replying to it, but then again maybe it was moved so that fewer people who are having these problems would see it and then you administrators wouldn't get bombarded w/ all kinds of emails or questions about this problem. It's not just a general question ya know, it's really not a question at all and the original was not written to you at all, it was directed towards the users out there. I'm outta here, I'll figure out a backdoor way in and get around this garbage assuming I regain the patience to try to post pics.

I'd fix the problem if there was a problem, but there is not. There was a problem that involved people with characters like &, ' and # in their screennames (FX4's issue), but that has been fixed. The problem that people here are experiencing involves browser security.

It may be due to over aggressive or over paranoid anti-virus settings, pop-up blocker settings, adware blocker settings, cookie manager settings or browser settings which are in-turn preventing a cookie from being set on your browser from our site. It affects very few people, despite how some want like to characterize it. It's clear from some of the comments in this thread that there is some completely unfounded paranoia and utter lack of knowledge about cookies and their purpose.

There are thousands of image hosting sites on the net and you are free to use anyone you like. If you don't want to use our's or you don't trust this site enough to let it set cookies, or if you don't like the features or whatever, then just don't use them. As someone else said, our galleries can be accessed with security features turned on. I, and hundreds of others, do it almost every day.

higdogg,

The post about security software was to isolate where the problem is. My further post about parental controls was to narrow the issue down further (you may or may not have this feature). You should not have to disable the entire security package all the time once you know where the problem is. Some security software will target words and the repeated use of words/phrases in parental controls (ie. the word gallery isn't always associated with pictures of trucks). They may let you in a few times then block it another. I have had this problem before and that was the issue.

Cookies-fattening and not always the best thing to have. clear them out occasionally. the wrong cookie will redirect you every time.

These may not be the problem, just suggestions from past experiences.

FYI: In more rare, incredibly overly paranoid about security cases, there is software that essentially blocks the browser from sending the referer variable. This information tells the server from which page the user just came.

For instance, for security reasons for your account, we check to see if the user came from the gallery login page or another page within the admin section when they attempt to access the gallery admin menu. This prevents a user from "hot-linking" accidentally to a page within their galley admin section (a page that contains usermenu.cfm) that may allow others to gain access to their gallery admin.

If this referer information is being blocked and we cannot read it, we cannot assess where the user has come from and thus return them to the gallery main page. There are ad blocking utilities that can do this. And, of course, if you are surfing this site and want to use our free resources, like the forums and galleries, and you block our source of income to keep them free for your use, you are likely not get a lot of sympathy or help from us.

(read this page for more information on how you may fix this issue)

With all that said, I have added a couple of pieces of information to the gallery login page about this...and I now redirect people to a security information page, rather than to the main gallery page. Hope that helps.

Listen chief... here's how it is...

99.9 times out of 100, I'll help someone out the best I can when they have a problem. Ask around. That 0.1 times that I don't is for instances like yours where the user is being a total ***** about requesting help.

While I know you're frustrated and you want for things to operate in a correct manner, the bottom line is that I, nor any other staff member here at f150online, can drop everything that they're doing and diagnose a problem that is on YOUR end. I've done this oodles of times but, in your case, I'm much less anxious to help someone that continually jumps up and down screaming like a baby that just dropped his pacifier. If you want help, you're going to have to stop having your little tantrums.... and, damnit, you're going to have to eat your peas and carrots too... and sit in your high chair like a big boy!

Get some web sense.... Get some patience... and, most of all, get some courtesy and you'll get a lot farther with me, and every other staff member, here at f150online.com... for god's sake.

Just for the "gosh darn" of it, I added a photo to my gallery.

No Problem.

Hey "chief *****," I guess I'm dropping to your level by even posting this, but just for the record I'd eat your lunch if you were standing in front of me right now. I don't give a rip who you are or what you look like. I need to get some more patience at times, but your lack of professionalism as an admin person has just dropped off the planet. At least your webmaster has some manners. I never profess to know anything that I don't know, and I even mentioned that I wasn't trying to really make you mad, I just did not see why this process of posting pics has to be so hard. Heck, I've been on here 7 mths and never tried, but I'm always seeing people who are and telling others how to do it ON THE '04-05 FORUM WHERE YOU MOVED MY QUESTION FROM. I shouldn't even reply to this, I pretty much grew up past this stage long ago. Guess you better go in and delete your last post to take out all the curse words used in it if we really want to get proper in our posts on here.

Anyway, I'm moving back to my grown up level on here now.....I don't know everything, I don't know anything about your job or your webmaster's job for this site or how it is done. I do have some web skills, part of my job is actually on a website that is quite more professional than this one, but this one doesn't have to be that professional so it doesn't matter. My computer settings are about average with everyone else's in the world, I've got the normal norton antivirus stuff, explorer pop up blocker, and the internet security settings are set to about medium like they should be. I believe I will try this on my computer at work tomorrow just to see if it is any different. Anyway, I will not be coming back to this specific forum, so if you want to bash me and exercise your wannabe authority then post it 'illegally' in the '04-05 forums where I might see it. Best of luck in life, no hard feelings (well not too much anyway), and take a valium and chill out on the job.

Thanks for the help man! I'll get it figured out somehow.
