New posts
Disclaimer: these are just FYI. I'm not a crybaby.
How I worked the old version:
Click on "Posts since your last visit"
Read Pages, while doing so, Reply to post on page 2, 3 and maybe 6.
When I finish reading all pages Click back to Page 1 and it has any post I posted to on page one.
This version holds the thread on the page it was already on when I return to page one. The tread title does change from BOLD to NOT BOLD upon exit so, some updating is going on.
I hit F5 to 'refresh' Page One but 'refresh' doesn't occur.
(tried F5 multiple times)
Not a problem, Hit 'New Posts' and cycle back into New Posts program.
Posts are on page one of 'New Posts'
Views counter - A thread will have 1 view or maybe 390 views. I view the entire thread, leave the thread and the view counter is still 1 or 390. I realize from the issue above I am looking at a stale page.
I leave 'New Posts' and return to 'F150online Forums' then go back into 'New Posts' and the counter is still at 1 or 390. (?)
The old version updated views immediately upon thread exit.
Maybe I have to exit the site before my views are tallied?
These are minor points that don't deserve any major efforts, just something to think about like maybe when you are trying to get some sleep.

I will have to re-read your first point a few dozen times before figuring out what it means, but to speak to your question about the view count...
One of the most resource intensive areas of vBulletin 2 was the real-time counting of thread views. In some cases, it literally brought the servers of large vB installs to its knees. The times when you would click and then sit and wait, were most like due to MySQL (the database behind the scenes) literally locking and holding a table to complete an update of a view count before letting any other process complete.
In the new version, they provide an option to delay the update of thread counts and place it on a schedule, ie. every five minutes, every hour, etc. to relieve the server of some of the work it has to do.
This feature is a god-send to sites the size of our's and something that we have all been waiting for.

Built in delays that help performance are good and probably account for all my ramblings above. I hadn't thought of that.
Was worried that there was problem just by comparing old version to new.
Go back to sleep.
