what do you make of this? Are you now using this md5 password deal? And maybe I need an update on my end of some sort?

Do you have another forum that is running the same version as this board? Maybe I will try becomming a member there and see if I have the same password issue. If so I can have some grounds as to start looking into what my problem is. Otherwise I'm in the dark. No idea what to even start researching.

If it were something along the lines of MD5 encryption problems, every user of Firefox would be affected. As you stated, you're having problems with both IE and Firefox, which is more indicative of a firewall, adware, blocking, security setting problem. While it may be possible/probable that the forum upgrade process changed cookies on our end, they way they are interpreted is controlled by your end. As you noted, the cookie that the forum set was set correctly. What happens after that, and how it is read, or misread, would be on the client's end.

To anyone else that participated in this thread and claims to have the same problem, did you try the link I provided earlier to clear your cookies?

Mine seems to have cleared up. I haven't had to log in for over 2 days now.

For some reason mine is now being saved as well...

and I never changed a thing webmaster....??

The other subscription problem i had Webmaster was indeed a problem on your end....read my problem posts again...I indicated I tried deleting folders and not taking emails...both did not work for me until you did something with my settings.

I use Netscape with firewall settings that neither have changed...

Thanks for both...

As an administrator, I deleted all the threads that you were subscribed to, all of which were viewable via the CP. The problem was not on our end, you were indeed subscribed to threads. I made no changes whatsoever to your account settings. They are set precisely as they were set when I removed your subscriptions. As you were the only person to report this problem, again this is indicative of user error, not a problem with the upgrade, or it would have been widely reported, not by just one user. Because subscriptions were the default when the upgrade was first completed, then subsequently changed, you simply had subscribed to threads without realizing it.

You probably have a valid cookie now. Re-read my replies from earlier. 99.9% of the time, it is a cookie problem on the client end. That was the required fix, as I suggested but for some people they simply would not grasp.

on Friday, I went crazy deleted the cookies a million times to now avail.

This morning I had an idea that worked...

I cleared the cookies with the link, closed IE. Opened a new IE, logged in but unchecked the "remember me", used the link to erase all the cookies. Rebooted the PC, came back to the site, logged in. I then checked the remember me button, and it is no working. So I guess it was just the combination of deleting the cookies and the "remember me" button.

As Steve has said make DAMN sure you are using the same shortcut to access the pages.

For example If one says f150online.com and one says www.f150online.com that will hork up the cookies. I recently set up a new forum and found myself using the url drop down box to go back to it - I would not be logged in .. Frustrating ..... I would login then it seems I would get logged back out - The url box just said domainname.com without the www. and the cookie is set to www.domainname.com - so in my case its my problem and the cookie is working as designed.

Since the site currently has 119 members signed in and typically has 400 or more if there were a problem with a setting that Steve changed it would be 50 or 100 people in here with problems....

Steve - things seems smooth and fast from this end...

Doug
