why so slow?
Is it my conection slow or is this the slowest site ever? It takes forever to pull up a page. It has never been like this before, just wandering if it is my connection, it seems to work fast on other sites. Anyone else haveing problems with this?

Any time you experience problems with this or any other site, perform a "tracert" to see where a potential problem may exist. If you are unsure of what this is or how to do it, see the second post in this thread. You will find that 99% of the time, the problem is not this site, but a "hop" between you and our server. Weather can play a role in slowing down these "hops" so even if you are in Georgia (where our server is located), your page request may still go through Boston, DC & Charlotte.
Since our server migration (which is being discussed in several threads in this forum), we have upgraded our server harder to 10x the performance level of our last server and it working at about 10% of its capacity. Our new datacenter is hot, meaning that there are no throughput bottlenecks to worry about up until the point that your request leaves our datacenter.
Here is a theory as to why there may be performance problems for some AOL users. My guess is that AOL, in an attempt to increase the perceived load times of sites, operates caching servers in different parts of the world. These servers essentially maintain copies of bits of information from sites accessed by their users. It's possible that the bits and pieces that AOL are caching are somehow referencing our old IP address. This is just a theory, and one that would, theoretically, pertain to any of the larger ISP's out there. Any engineers care to comment?
