chip for 2.3

i know this is a f150 sight but i did notice some of you have rangers ,so here s what i need to know . my bro in law is trying to get a little more power from his 91 ranger it has no dist just a coil pack ,does he need a chip or is ther something else we can do? it has a 5sp trans new plugs ,wires and the timeing is wher its suppost to be ibumped up the (advanced) the cam by the timing belt it runs better but i dont want to go any more then one cog, any help thanx mike

TURBO.
from a svo mustang. Other wise contact Advance Adapters to get some 5.0L swap stuff. OR, trade up for a 300 or 302 F-150! Imho the 2.3L isn't worth putting and money into. Remember, thats just my opinion and $.02.

Actually the 2.3/2.5 is a strong little engine and has a lot of performance potential. There are lots of speed parts available for it since it is used in both circle track and off-road racing. Try asking on a Ranger-oriented board such as:

Power

First of all, check out rangerpowersports.com for some tips as well as the forum.

If the expertise and money is present, a built turbo 2.3L will really rock. But there are things that you can do to help the anemic 2.3L out.
