Need a quick favor

Anyone with a '92 - '96 4.9L, I need 4 minutes of your time. Would you please get a 3/8" breaker bar, open your hood, loosen the belt tensioner with the breaker bar, so that the belt comes completely off the p/s pulley. Now, grab the p/s pulley, and tell me if you can move it in and out at all (front to back).

Thanks.

Called my friend, he did as you asked and he said if it did move, it was not something he could feel.

Ya know, this sure is turning into a really lousy month to be me. LOL.

I dunno. I can slide the pulley and it's shaft a good 3/8" in or out, almost like an adjustment to line up the pulley with the serp belt. It doesn't make any noise, it doesn't leak, and my steering feels great. I have just never seen a pump that did that before. I swear it feels like it's supposed to be that way, but screwing a 16 year old when I was 20 felt right too, but we all know it wasn't. Then again, she's 32 these days...

Thanks guys.

Take care,
~Chris
