Denso Plugs

Well I went ahead and "tried" to install all my ignition upgrade stuff. Well the coil, wires, and cap and rotor went on without a prob. Then it was time for the plugs. I went one Denso's website and it said Gap .044, so I went and check one of the plugs, and it was at .035, so I tried to gap it to .044, well I get to .040, and try to go a little further, and the Iridium tip breaks off. So I try it on another one and the same thing happens. well I stopped after this. I then went online again, and I saw one wensite say that the plugs are gapped for mthe factory, and if you try to gap them they will break. I dont understand why they would say they cant be gapped, but on the wesite they say .044, and the plugs came from the factory at .035.I was so pissed, I call every place around town to try to track down 2 plugs, but nobody sells these Densos.People are asking me if they are even for a car, Im pissed at this time, so I just calm down, and call Mike T, and order 2 more plugs. I still have to talk to him and see what he says about the gapping, but for now I left the motorcrafts in there. The truck runs great, and it actually downshifts faster now! I cant wait to see if the plugs make a difference.

Beastie,

Just to make sure... I think you typed the stock gap in dyslexic mode. My stock gap on my '95 is .053 not .035.

Depending on the quality of the coil and wires you should be able to open that up some. I run from .065 and up with my setup, and have run as large as .080 with platinum plugs.

While you're at it index them. Without the washers it's a little PITA but usually you can get them close. Like a moron I chucked my indexing washers some time back... DOH! I've been meaning to order some since nobody locally stocks them.

Nope the plugs were gapped when I got them at .035, I need to gap them to .044, according to the denso website, and the plugs that i pulled out were all at .044. I am just going to go with what Denso says.
