Air Conditioning

In My Friends 91' f150 XLT Lariat the air is coming out of the heater vents instead of the A/C vents also it is not putting out as cold as it should and all of the controls are where they should be.
Does it need a recharge?
please help!

When you turn it to vent like you want heat will it come out the vents or only the floor? Sounds like a vacuum leak not operating the baffle correctly.

If it is indeed a problem with the vent controls, some vehicles have a cable that can be adjusted. I know the newer cars are like that, i'm not sure about our trucks though.

Sorry, what I meant was on "vent" does the air come out the vent or the floor? What about def.? The selector is vacuum controlled. My first guess would be that this is not working correctly. Could be a vacuum leak or low vacuum, or the actuator.

Start with checking for vacuum leaks or poor vacuum. The baffle is vacuum actuated.
