Ummmmm

OK I bought a K&N filter today not FIPK and as i was removing the old filter i noticed for first time a small filter twards the firewall of the truck this filter seems to go with a vac line and it was really nasty. I took it out and it fell apart do i need this little filter BTW its a Speed Density air box.

It is commonly called a breather filter. It filters the air that comes out of the crankcase. It dosent HAVE to be there, but if it isnt your air filter will get dirtier a little faster.

Thanks for info. Why does it filer air coming out seems a small waste but what ever. Could i maybe cut a hole in the box and fab a little port for that vac line so my filter does not get dirty faster?

it doesnt filter the air coming "out" in sucks air in to the crankcase the "out" is the pcv valve that takes the blow by gases from the crankcase and burns them in the motor . since i removed all the bottom of my air box i had to relocate . so i got a APC intimadator filter and stuck in the hose @ the filler cap . it tends to get a bit messy tho and i am thinking bout remotely locating it .

Mine is very similar to Mac's. Mine is an APC, I stuck mine on at the end of the long tube and it resides with the 2 cone filters.
