QUICK!!! Need help!!!

I have a 1995 F-150 and I went to install my new offroad lights but I need to know where to find the accessory fuse or port that I can use. Is it the one in the dash or the one under the hood? Also, the lights that I have have 2 wires coming out of them. What are they and does it matter if I use one or the other or both? Also any helpful tips would be great!

one is for ground, if you want to wire them so when you turn your lights on for at night, run them to your fuse box, and put them into the fuse for "instrument illumination" which, when you turn on your lights, they will turn on. just a suggestion, its what i did with my white faced guages

I don't know about the fuses but as far as the wires from the light, the ground wire you can just attach to any good ground, i drilled a small hole in the frame, put a self tapping screw in it and attached the wire there. I originally tried hooking it up to the bumper but found that the bumper was isolated by rubber bushings, so it wouldn't ground.

One wire is black and one is white. Im assuming the black one is ground? Also, can I just take the non ground wires and hook them together and then run one single wire to the termanal? Like a Y ???

I suggest using a relay. Or, tie it into your headlight circuit, which has a relay. The relay reduces high amperage wiring going to your switch. Sometimes direct wiring w/out using a relay melts switches.

What does a relay look like? Pics? I have some stuff included with the kit but I dont know what they are.

Its hard for me to decribe what can be done. Did your lights come w/ directions?

Yes you can run the wires in a Y like you said.

Inski's right about using a relay, it's not completely neccesary but if you don't the lights won't be as bright. A relay is a little black box with a few different terminals coming out of it. It's basically a high current switch. When you flip the switch to turn the lights on it activates the relay, which switches on and sends power to the light. That way you don't have top run high current through your dash.

It may not be necessary for your kit though, just follow the directions that came with the lights.

I would highly recommend not to do that, as it could cause damage to your fuse panel. A friend of mine did that on his truck with his amplifier and blew a 40amp maxi-fuse in the relay box, and couldve caught his wiring on fire. If you're goin to do something, do it the right way.

i am not going to install lights so... my white faced guages didn't accquire much power so it was no trouble. and my amp, i went from the battery. with a fuse.

easy Jw 4x4, thats what we're trying to do here. Maybe some one can draw this circuit on Paint for him and post it. Mine seems to go AWOL when I try to transfer things.

Or Isecatcher, maybe you could draw your directions and we can decifer them.
