Re-painting Rims
I was just wondering if anyone knows where i should get paint to repaint my rims. They came polar white (same color as twotoned stripe on truck) but are now polar rust.
Over the years they are still white, but have alot of rust on them. THe body is still in good condition rust wise, but the rims are pretty shabby. The problem though is finding a paint that will match. Should i just go to a paint store and have them mix me a color to match, and that way i could compensate for the fading that occured over the years and it would match better? Also, would repainting hold up, and could i sand them down myself, or would i have to get them sandblasted? thanks for any help.

Snadblasting would be the best way to do it. As far as paint goes,Duplicolor makes wheel enamel in a few different colors. It's designed to stand up to the wear and tear better than regular paint. Another option would be to get aftermarket rims. YOu can get really nice rims $75 to $125 a piece. I paid $350 for 4 really nice chrome American Racing wheels.

Thanks for the response. I'll probably go to a paint shop around here and have them mix me up an automotive paint that way it will still match after the years of fading. I dont wanna get aftermarket rims cuz (it may sound stupid but) i wanna restore her someday, and wanna keep the original rims on her. I know its not a collectilbe or anything, but it has sentimental value to me. For sandblasting, how much would that cost? and would they have to remove the rubber? Thanks again
BTW, whats the address for those rims, cuz i'm gonna be getting either another F-150 (93 or 97) or a Ranger (93ish) and i'll be getting rims for whichever i get and those look like good prices to me. thanks.

I don't know how much it would cost for sandblasting, shouldn't be too much though, it only take a few minutes. And yes the tires would have to be off for them to do a good job painting them. And you should probably let them dry for a few days for the paint to get hard before you try to remount the tires.
You could probably find American Racing wheels online somewhere, i got mine at my local Dunn Tire store. They have a whole binder full of really nice rims that are really cheap. I've had mine for 2 years now and they still look like new, polishing them occasionally when i wax the truck.

aight, thanks for the help. I guess i'll have to lookinto sandblasting around here, and then get the paint matched. I'll probably paint them myself. I'll wait until the summer though cuz i'll be w/o a truck for a while then.
