ok guys, im replacing my thermostat on my engine and i had a little trouble with the housing bolts (ive fixed the problem, but i dont want to have to remove the housing again). heres my question, half the people ive talked to have told me to run the engine with no thermostat, while others have told me to stick to a 180 thermostat. what should i do? im leaning towards putting in a new 180 t-stat, but would it be better to run it without one? wouldnt this cause the coolant to run too fast thru the radiator and not have enough time to cool off? my dad swears that he has removed his t-stat out of every trck he's owned with no problems whatsoever. opinions? thanks!
well the problems with that is 1.) your temp constantly rises eventually boiling over on a hot day ,(especially in traffic ). 2.) your motor doesn't maintain a good temp (to low) to run properly . 3.) in the winter your heater sucks ....lol
so you suggest i stick with the t-stat? im notworried about the heater in winter, our winters here are like 70 degrees

Not only would I put a thermostat back in I would use a 192 degree. No thermostat or one thet is the incorrect temperature will cause your trucks computor to think that the engine isnt warmed up yet. 192 degrees is what they are equipped with from the factory.
I agree with the above. Use a stat and preferably the stock 190 or whatever it is.
For the half that say don't use one urge them to see a doctor. With some lubrication and effort they can be cured of their cranial rectumitis!
