source for intake tube

For my custom intake I'm looking for some light, 80mm (3.5 inch??) diameter metal tube. The local muffler shop said they only have 3 inch. Does anybody know where I could get that?

Your local hardware store, under "dryer hoses". $3.49 for six feet.

Take care,

Some upper end exhaust shops might have 3" stainless. That will be perfect because it necks down to slightly under 2 7/16" at the throttle bodies, then you'll need some plumbing cuppler rubber to hose clamp on to the tube, then to the throttle bodies. The universal 3" Holley or K&N cone filters will hose clamp on to the other end no problem.

Also look inthe yellow pages for metal yards, race car builders, ect for the tubing. Aluminum would be good too. It doesn't take much effort to polish ss or aluminum. I'm gonna do this very same thing when I get around to it. Let us know what you end up doing.

Thumbs up Custom Intake Tube

bjoern ; I used a length of 3" exhaust and had one end flanged at the muffler shop to 3.5" to mate with the Mass Air and used rubber clamps with 2 S/S bands to attach to Mass Air and TB. I also made the adaptor for the Mass Air to Filter from a PVC plumbing piece.

Will post some pics when I get them.
