YEa, transfer case, couldn't think of it... I'm supposed to get my exhaust on Friday, i'll probably put it on Sunday.. But honestly, do you think my truck will sound wimpy? I want a tone like the 302.. Surley since it's not much smaller than the 302 it should sound good, right?? Thanks you all..

My cat back improved the sound quality big time, but it doesn't sound like a Ford V8. Your's won't either. It will sound better, but in order to sound like a V8, you need 8 cylinders. Ford V8's have two firing orders that yield a one of a kind exhaust sound, and the 4.9L will never be able to duplicate it. The fact that you (and I) only have 6 cylinders is in part why we require more back pressure than a V8 does, too. That's why I'm really curious to see how 3" pipes work out for you. You'll definately be pleased, but don't expect it to sound like a 302 or a 351.

Take care,
-Chris

Have you done any mods to the airbox? I noticed a HUGE difference after installing a K&N FIPK. Ray's (Macgyver) airbox mod, when combined with a K&N drop in filter should yield similar results.

Take care,
-Chris

Call them up. Tell them you thought it was dual exit system. You'll probably have to pay shipping but no biggy. Flow master does make a dual split muffler for our years but I haven't seen it advertised in summit.

On the other hand, any flowmaster will sound good. A 3 inch single exit might suit you. Summit wont take it back if you install then un-install.

if youre happy with it then thats all that matters. the low end loss was probably due to the diameter of the pipes, like a few people said earlier.

SpocketX,
Thats one of the best mods any one could ever do. You'll love it. I have yet to do that on my truck, it was like night and day on my previously owned mustang.

I have found out that my K&N cone filters for my racing go-karts fit perfectly on the throttle body openings. They are angled and have a 2 7/16" openings and stand 6-8" long. It will look kinda goofy cuz I'll have to mount them pointing in opposite directions. Imagine the corvette intake w/ the K&N fitler sticking right off the TB and thats what it kinda looks like. Not bad for $15 filters!

BUT, it also means that the hottest air in the entire engine compartment will be the air it draws in.

Take care,
-Chris

thats right. I am trying to incorperate the snorckle/funnel thingy into that somehow. Maybe move it over near the tb or do a double MacYver from both sides of radiator. Just to make sure fresh air gets in there. Maybe I'll do what you did and just put the filters at the end of the tubes and ram air it.

The Double Macyver sounds kinda cool . Like somekind of NASCAR high horse power trick. "The Double Macyver Device"

true about the hot air..but my induction hood is on the way so I'd geuss that would help a lot getting rid of the hot air...I'll play around with ram air when I get it in on monday.

If your induction hood has a rear facing opening, then that's where the hot air will exit the engine compartment, but it would still pass right by the tb on it's way out. The best location for placement of the air entrance is as far forward as possible, unless you're carb'ed and have a full function cowl induction hood.

Take care,
-Chris
