Well, I just got done tonight. Took about 3 hours for the conversion (the upper intake has come off) after the harness was made. Had to swap a few pins at the EEC and added 11 to it. I will give better details once I drive it more. But right away it already idles better and has much better throttle responce. I will try to make notes of the details for everyone.
When I was in middle of the swap, a few people stopped in and I told them about the advantages of the SEFI and the Mass-Air and they all want it now. Next one I am doing is my friends 88 F-250 4X4 with a 5.8, but we are just doing a Speed-Desity SEFI on that. He doesn't plan on any more mods than exhaust and you can pick these processors up CHEAP, and if he does want MAF later all you add is the 2 wires to the processor for that and all the other is already done.

Question

I have a complete harness from a 1996 F-150. What do I have to do to it to make it work in my truck? That year should be mass-air and SEFI, right? Can I just plug the ends into my ECM and I'm good to go or is there anything else I need to do to it?

I'll combine my mass air conversion with a complete intake and fuel injector upgrade that I'll post on my website, so that we have that information out there for all the others that plan on doing the conversion.

I am sorry to say, but the all the 96 stuff is EEC-V. That was the first year of OBO-II and they use 3-4 o2 sensors (one for each bank and 1 or 2 after the cat to monitor the effectiveness of the cat). And the processor connector is 104-pin instead of 60-pin. They also have the in-cab data link.
What kind of trans do you have?

Well, I got the entire upper+lower intake, TB, sensors and all (26k miles) with wiring off Ebay for $100. That should fit my 88 with only few adjustments, right? Can I at least splice the injector wires into my old harness? I still don't have a clue of how you modified the one you had to make it fit your truck. Can you post a wiring diagram somewhere (or email it to me at bjoern@brembs.net and I put it up on my website)?

My tranny is the manual Mazda 5-speed.

Thanks for all your info!

I have an 89 F150 with 5.0. I am wanting to do the MAF conversion. Since it has a C6 not electronic, could I use a computer from a manual mustang?

This is an old thread, but I never got my question answered from 10-06-2011.

I have an 89 F150, 5.0, C6. What is needed to do the MAF conversion? I read a lot about the VSS is needed for the MAF to work properly. Any info on this would be appreciated.

I don't have info on the specifics Ghost, but in all honesty I personally think the MAF conversion is a waste of money unless you're doing a really high strung build. There just isn't much to be gained IMO, and I say this as the owner of a factory MAF truck. I've driven speed density trucks with similar mods and other than trim levels, etc they drove just like my truck.
