Gone And Done It-- Chip, Pulleys...
I finally caved in and ordered a Superchip and a set of March underdrive pulleys. I should have both of them in my possession within about two weeks, so for any of you who have not yet installed a chip or a pulley, but were thinking about doing it, I'll let you know what happens. I plan on installing them at different times, so I can feel the difference each of them makes, and which one (if any, or both) is the better investment. I've had my new cat-back system and K&N FIPK in place for a little over a year so I guess I just got used to the mild power increases from those mods. and I needed to take the next step. But I know once I get used to the chip/pulleys, the only place to go is the engine itself. Like donate, I'm planning on doing a 351 engine swap, with a host of goodies like aluminum cylinder heads, cam, intake manifold, throttle body, new headers, water pump/upgraded cooling system. And if I still think it needs extra b@ll$, then I'll just have to get a blower

Keep us posted. I'm surprised SuperChips actually had a program for your computer--Mike needs me to send my computer in so they can write a program.
What code do you have?
Sounds like some good mods--I'll have to follow suit. What do you think of your Crane cam?

Mike,
Normally, it only takes a couple days to get a superchip, but they said it would take a week to create the program for my truck. They said they already had a file for my code (which is E9B btw) which means they already have all the info. they need to make the chip, they just haven't made it yet. So they said it would take a week to do that, then a few more days to send it out to me, so by next Friday I should have it in the mail. Not too bad.
My pulleys are currently in Indiana (according the the UPS tracking system), so it'll be probably another week before I see those.
But I will definately keep you guys posted.
Regarding my crane cam, I would say it's almost a waste of money unless you're going to be pulling out your engine any ways. I had an engine swap a year and a half ago so I figured while the engine is out, might as well upgrade something. Honestly, I couldn't tell you how much of a difference it made, but certainly not enough to justify spending all day ripping apart your engine to replace. I guess there's only so much they can do before it starts screwing the the computer settings. The cam was only $150 and wasn't any extra labor to install so I don't feel cheated at all. If I had it to do all over again, I'd probably still do it, but like I said, only if I had to do another engine swap. Speaking of doing engine swaps over again, if and when I stick a 351 in there, I'll probably go with an Edelbrock cam to match the heads, intake, etc.... They're probably almost the same thing any ways, I'll have to check the specs. Hope this helps some
