Ray,
Good idea. Similar to the Mustang cool air trick.

The coat hanger idea works well. FM radio waves are horizontal so the coat hanger is able to recieve better.

Very cool job, Ray! You're the kind of guy our Sprint car team needs: a true "fabricator"!

Take care,
-Chris

That's crazy! I had no idea schit like that was even done.

I know what you mean about fixing or improving things. I'm the same way. I can't help it. When I see something, my mind works in such a way that I start looking for ways to improve it. The past couple years I have been really trying to shut up more. I seem to have this habit of sharing my thoughts when I shouldn't. Somebody will work hard on doing something, show it to me, and the first thing I say is what I would have done different. Not very cool. Not intentional, either. Can't help it. I can be sitting at a traffic light, and look over and see someones front yard, and without even realizing it, I'm already thinking how I would have landscaped it differently. This is why I work for myself. I have had employers have to remind me that I was hired to do what I was told, not to tell them how to do it better. Oh well.

Take care,
-Chris

Just info for those playing with intake mods....

I was wondering if my factory cool air tube was worthless or not. Once day working on my yard it hit me that I had just the tool to check it with.

Leaf blower. Back it up and aim it towards the truck intake area. We found that the factory tube grabs a lot more air than I expected. Of course this isn't rocket science, but it will give you a rough idea of how well your intake setup is grabbing cool air.

well a leaf blower can reach peaks of 155 mph . that is more like adding a supercharger to your intake then it is a good indication of what air your intake will take it under normal driving conditions . especially if you were pointing it right at your factory cool air tube . this is going to give you a false impression of just how much air it actually pulls in .

We DID back the leaf blower off! Actually if you back off a few feet the air diffuses and the velocity goes down fairly quick. Just thought it might be something lots of people have. Worked good when we played with it.

We also used a box fan but the flow of those things is very limited.
