Question 95 exhaust ??

I have a 95 XLT ext-cab short bed with the 5.0L.

I am making a track bar for it, so I will have to remove my over the axle pipes. Right now I have the Edelbrock exhaust on it.

How does the 5.0L sound with straight pipes, and how is it on power. Did it go up, or down.

I will be moving my exhaust so it comes out in front of the right rear tire, with crome tips.

Donate54 has straight pipes I think. He'll be able to articulate that situation for you.

It will be a bit poppy, but if you like your truck to be louder, you'll like it. I have a true dual 2 1/4" exhaust on my 96 and it sounds great. I'm using 18" glass packs. It is quiet at idle & cruising, but lets you know it is there when you open it up. If it was me, I'd go with 12" glass packs and you'll be happy I'm sure.

the truck is definitely louder with no muffler. if you want straight pipes, dont use large diameter pipes or you will lose low end power. the 5.0 sounds MEAN with straight pipes. deep and loud, and does pop a little bit (especially when downshifting). if you keep your cats on, yuou should be ok as far as sound level. with mine, i definitely noticed a huge gain in the middle and top end, my low end power wasnt changed. hope this helps...

Thanks for the answers guys.

I think I will try the straight pipe, and see how loud it is. I will keep the cats, at least for now.
