Lightbulb For all of those looking for a little x-tra

I just found a filter that fits where the fl1a does and is almost twice as long.
Wix part number 51773
This is the same filter used on medium duty ford trucks with gas engines. It is the same as the regular(FL1A) filter just longer. It has almost twice the filtering media.
It fit right on my 92 302 4x4 with no problems.
If you are looking for a little extra insurance you might give it a try.

Might be worth looking into. I'm almost due for a change now. Before the last change, I convinced myself I was going to put a remote unit on. The stock location isn't bad to get to, but it's next to impossible to keep oil from getting on crap.

I was thinking about doing a remote setup under the washer reservoir. Looks like plenty of room for either single or dual. Seems that a remote in a cool location might lower oil temp slightly also...

Remote filters are excellent. Just be sure to route the hoses in such a manner that they won't be subjected to undercarriage road debris. Another plus is that it gives you the opportunity to install an accurate oil temp gauge without having to drill a hole in the pan, and makes it easier to add an oil cooler, should you want one.

Take care,
-Chris
