brake job on 91 explorer

brake job on 91 explorer
I am posting this message for a friend of mine
I don't do brakes)
A friend of mine wants me to do his front brakes on his 91 explorer. I have done them on F150's and know what tools I need, but this one needs new rotors also, and I was told I need a special tool for this model / yr. I will be doing this at his house, and want to make sure I have all the tools I need in one trip.
Also he said since he did the brakes last time the 4WD doesn't work anymore, (now it clunks) so obviously he messed it up some how. I think he took the hubs off when he didn't need to, and failed to line up the marks when replacing them.
1) Does any one know what tool I need to remove the rotor?
2) Is there anything I can trouble shoot with regard to his 4WD?
I only promised the brakes, but will look at the 4WD hubs, as I am no expert.
