Exclamation What kind of transmission do I have ?!@?!?!?!

I really hope someone here can help me. I cannot get a strait answer on what type of transmission is actually in my truck. Everyone I talk to is stumped, as to wether it is an NP tranny, or a Tremec as one called it or even some type of aftermarket junk (as one dealer quoted) because this tranny wasn't listed in there book.

PLEASE HELP ME :)

I have a 1987 Ford F-150, 4.9 Liter, Inline 6 with a 4 speed standard transmission:

1 3
2 4 R

This transmission does not have a granny low.

The casing numbers on the drivers side of the tranny are:

RF-E5 TR-7006-AA
C-2605524

I would appreciate ANY help anyone could give. I really need to get this thing swapped out. Between me and the tranny, it has eaten a clutch in one year EXACT. The clutch was put in Jan 11 2001 and yesterday I had to park it.

Thanks!

If you're going to replace it, just get the Mazda 5 spd. My 4.9 F-150 loves it.

Take care,

Re:

But will it fit? I would rather NOT have to do any modifications.

It needs a clutch like I said. So I want to purchase the tranny myself and have someone do the clutch. When they pull the old one out to get access to the clutch, I want them just to slip the new one in and not have to fight with anything.

It will bolt in, but you would have to measure the length of the two tranny's to verify that the driveshaft(s) would work. I don't have the measurements handy, but I could measure mine for you. I plan on watching football today, so you'll have to wait untill tomorrow, though. Let me know how long your tranny is.

Take care,
-Chris
