Why do you think Ford offers mega rebates?
If Ford redesigned the F150s to resemble the 1992-1996 models, but with the Triton engines or the 300 CID 6 I would buy one. Door cracks, slapping engines, water leaks, and an engine sticking halfway under the firewall prevents me from considering the latest look.
Im assuming you'r just a troll
But on the off chance that you're not, Ford offers rebates because they're shooting for strong market share, which in large scale business can be enough to make for good profits even if you're not making a huge amount for each vehicle sold.
I'm parital to the previous body style too. However, I've owned a 97 and found it to be a well built, quality product. I'm hoping they change the nose a little in the future. I'd like to see some of that Superduty design creep in.
I know you were just looking for an argument. Concentrate on getting your license first, then worry about what you'll be able to afford some day.

Don't hate me for it, but I've always thought the '97 and newer F150's looked too feminine, too rounded. I absolutely LOVE the F350, but when it comes to F150, I think the 92-96 looks much better. I swear I'm not saying this because I own a '95, but that is the reason I haven't gotten rid of it. I also love the 300ci engine. As time goes by, and I see more and more newer F150's that have been "worked" by someone with similar tastes to mine, I am starting to like them, I guess, but they just look so un-intimidating. Almost pansy-like. Please don't get angry, or take offense, because I'm not saying anything bad about any F150 owners, just my feelings on most overly rounded vehicles. I'm not real fond of boxes on wheels, either, but a nice happy medium.

Chris,
I agree with you on the 'rounded' look. I'd probably say it's more of a car design as opposed to feminine, but I get what you mean. I really liked my 97 but the look never grew on me like I hoped. When I needed to upgrade to a extended cab, I went back to the older body style. I like the grill and head lights on the 92 - 96 the best. The new Superduty is one burly looking truck. It looks like a truck. The 94-01 Ram catches my eye too, but I've never been a beliver in Chrysler quality. I'm basically a Ford guy. What I'm hoping for is a new front end for the F150, more squared off. Maybe by the time I can afford a new truck it will happen. My tastes must be outdated because there's currently nothing in the half ton line up that trips my trigger.

i also agree that the late model 150's are a little too rounded. i think they look good for sport trucks (such as the lightning) because of their aerodynamic look, but for lifted or just plain "big" trucks, i prefer the 92-96 body style. i love the 92-96's, thats what i wanted to get when i was truck-shopping, but my wallet wasnt letting me be too picky, and i came across a great deal when i found this truck so i went for it. no regrets, though!!!
I've got to say that in my humble opinion, the best looking truck that Ford ever made is the 78-79 Bronco. One of these days when my life affords me the time, I'm going to buy one and restore it. My second favorite is the 87-91 F150/Bronco (I must like them, I have two in the driveway).
I agree with PKRWUD on the 97 plus. My wife never looked twice at a truck until they came out with the Expedition.
