351w rebuild advice
Hey guys!
I have a 97 f350 that i'm building up as my farm truck. Its a 351w 4x4 standard cab long bed with 4.10 gears and an E40D. and its 9000GVWR suspension. Has a dump bed insert in it that is coming out. The truck is going to be daily driver for town errands. About 5 miles from my farm. So MPG isn't a huge concern but id like to be mindful of it. This trucks going to be my snow plow truck only on the farm. and will occasionally haul around my eager beaver wood chipper. I already have a full wire harness to conver the engine bay and dash over to OBDII as well as the whole RKE setup to add the door keypad and power locks. Plan on swapping it over to a bullnose front clip just because lol
the problem i have is with how to build up the 351. The internet is all over the board with do this and don't do that. Some say to get gt40 heads, other say its not worth the upgrade. Some say the stock cam is the best. So i figured id just start my own thread and see what everyone thinks. I just want the truck to be reliable and maybe run a little better then stock. Since the truck is going to be OBDII it will run on a f150 Ecu that had a 351w and an e40d, already have that ecu. I'm also going to run the EDIS setup from an explorer controlled by a megasquirt. already have all the pieces for that, minus the "squirt".
So please help me pick whatever internals. cam, rockers, heads, intake, exhaust. I do want to stay on the low budget, as if these things ever really stay on budget.
