New Exhaust

I have a 1996 F150 XLT Standard cab with a 5.0 and want to replace the factory exhaust but there are so many to choose from anyone know what would be best to replace from headers back cats o2s mufflers and all? Its single exhaust exiting passenger side, not dual. Id like to stay as stock as possible and remain quiet. Not really wanting people to want to race me. Thanks in Advance.

The higher the numbers you go (usually) in a manufacturers series, the quieter they are.

But to go quiet, the muffler also needs to be larger due to resonance and acoustic properties. AKA suitcase mufflers...

Like for example; A Magnaflow 40 series will be louder than a Magnaflow 80 series.

Your best bet is to look at some well produced Youtube videos over a HiFi stereo system, with a sub and what not.

Thanks!! But nothing on youtube is quiet like my stock, was. Still unsure what to get. Any recommendations? Pretty sure everyone wants loud though. I like it though.

I got two Magnaflo 40's on my '00 Dakota with the 4.7l V8. It's quiet at idle, but it is loud in the 3k+ rpm range.

Since it's a standard shift, and the way the engine is designed, it sounds like a big rig jaking.

The looks I get when I engine brake... haha

If you want quiet like stock, then get stock!
