Fingers crossed!

Long time lurker, first time poster. In January, I bought my son a 5 speed 1994 F150 4x4 with a 302. I drove it for awhile, drove in snow for the first time in and fell in love with it. I gave it to him and we did all of the maintenance on it and he learned how to drive in it. He ended up moving to Fla (from NC) and we towed the truck down there and said my goodbyes. He landed a good job and got a new car and to make a long story short, I知 flying down to Florida on Monday to pick it up. It just hit 180k but is my sons daily driver and runs like a top. Being the adventurous type, I知 driving it to NC from Fla on Thursday. He just put new tires on it too. Wish me luck!

500 miles in one day would be no problem. Cruising steady speed on the highway is a lot easier on a vehicle than driving around town.

I would want the stop for me as much as anything. I could do the 500 miles in a day but it would be more enjoyable if broken up. Sounds like a fun adventure.

I just got back from an 800 plus mile trip on my 02 F150 that has 150k miles on it. It ran like a top! Two summers ago, at about 138k miles I drove it on an almost 6k mile trip out to tour Wyoming for a week and then on to Sturgis for bike week. It ran great! Knock on Wood!

12 hours straight and it brought me home!! New faith in ford!! But... shifting between 4th and 5 I was getting heavy vibration the whole trip. When I downshifted a few times, I壇 get a squeal. I知 no mechanic, just a ford lover, but I知 assuming it痴 time for a new clutch? I was worried, but it made it. Any thoughts? Driveshaft, clutch, u joint? Lmk if you need more info. Thanks for the good vibes!

Well, the transmission needs to come out to look at what's going on with the clutch. If I had to GUESS, I'd think the pilot bearing may be getting sticky. Whatever, if you go to the trouble to pull the tranny out, I think I'd put a full clutch kit in, including pilot bearing and slave cylinder, and get the flywheel resurfaced. This is also an opportunity to replace the rear main seal if it's starting to leak.

Yeah, I知 going to take it to my guy next week and let him pull it. And knock on wood, no leaks at all....yet. I知 sure my son dogged it for the few months he had it, so I知 expecting a hefty bill to get her road worthy, but I gotta do what I gotta do.... I have to fix her, she drove straight 12 hours for me. I just noticed that there痴 fluid around the rear diff gasket. Sigh
