Shift indicator location

Hi everyone.
I have a 89 F150 Lariat XLT, and like a lot of these older trucks the shift indicator is out of alignment. I've searched through the threads and internet, but I haven't been able to find anything conclusive regarding where the little adjustment bracket/wheel is located.
I've taken the panel off from under the steering wheel, stood on my head several times and I can't locate it. Lol
If anyone knows, do I need to take the instrument cluster face-plate off from over the wheel or do I have to take the steering column shroud off?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Have you looked where the cable attaches to the transmission itself?

No, I haven't. I can't find any indication of it anywhere. At least no where from under the driver side.
