Truck wanders while driving.

I have a 1994 F-150 351 W 4x4 XLT. When I drive it wanders from side to side like something is lose in the steering. I have replaced the ball joints, radius arm bushings, tie-rods are tight. When stopped and turning the wheel you can hear a creaking noise. It started doing this shortly after taking the body lift off. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

I am NOT a mechanic but have the same issue wit my 96. Steering box has been suggested as the front components all check good. Will be curious as to what you find for the fix.

Was there a steering shaft extender on with that body lift?

I'm almost sure this is correct but the 4x4 has a wider track at the front end than the rear axle. This makes the truck prone to wandering. If you have larger than normal tires you'll have to live with it or you can have the toe end set in more but it's going to wear the tires on the outside.

Check your front steering & suspension components. If all good, You might try adjusting the steering box. Bigger than factory tires can cause the front end to wander side to side, especially if tire pressures are more than 2-3 psi differential on each side.

Radial pull can cause it too. And like Blue said adjusting the worm gear in the gear box could help. Very easy to do.

Thanks guys! I adjusted the worm gear a half a turn and it got rid of the side to side wander. Guess I will be putting a new steer box in thanks for all the help,

In the past I jacked the front up to get the tires of the ground. Have someone wiggle the steering wheel back and forth while you adjust it. You will know it's perfect when you stop feeling the slop. I ran that gear box another 5 years before I replaced it.
