95 fuel problem

1995 f150 302L efi dual tank.
When i turn the ingnition to the on position i hear a click and no fuel pump (obviously truck turns over but no start). Rear tank ....i can hear the pump fine and truck fires up no problem. Fuses have all heen checked and are good. Im just learning about my trucks fuel system because ive never had a problem with it before. Before i drop the tank and replace the front fuel pump is there any other diaognostic check i should run? Also ive read that other peoples rear tank have been flowing into their front tank. Mine so far doesnt seem to he doing that. Why is that. Could it be because the front pump is bad but the check valve is still good? Also is the check valves on each tank or is it inbetween the tanks. Thanks in advance. I crawled underneath the trucks and have heen trying to understand how this particular year trucks fuel system works

Well, the front tank I find it easier to just unbolt and slide the bed back a foot to get to the pump. You could check for power at the front pump, but it is most likely fried. If it doesn't mis-send fuel, the check valve is working.

im willing to bet cash money that the front pump is done for. Has it sat for a long period of time with nothing in the tanks?

The rear tank filling the front tank is not normal. I do agree that your front pump is probably toast though.

Check the dash mounted selector switch. Its not common but sometimes the switch fails. I also had a bad electrical connector cause that issue on my old 94.

It hasnt been sitting....its my daily driver to and from work and to the mountains on the weekend. I had like half a tank and i took the dogs to the dog park because i didnt feel like being in 45mph winds at 27 deg up in the hills. It fired up fine then when we were gettin back in truck it started and sputtered and lost power then died....then woupdnt fire up anymore....switched to other tank and it fired right up. I have been running it on low fuel latley....not because i want to but money is tight. So most likely im to blame but i gotta get to work...lol. i think moving the bed back to get to the tank is a good idea....hope my bolts arent frozen up.

If it were me...I'd drop the tank...clean it out.....change the screen on the bottom of the fuel pump ( and the one ON the pump ), while your down there.
