Sunk our 91. New engine/trans from 93?

Our 1991 4wd 302 automatic ended up under muddy water for a day. After it got pulled out my 16 year old decided to run it. Needless to say, it's engine and tranny time.

I found a rough looking but great running 1993 4wd 302 automatic and the guys I use for stuff I can't do myself say they can swap engines/tranny. Also sugested that I move the manual hubs over to the 93 to replace the auto locking hubs.

Anything I need to be aware of that they may not have considered?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

Do they both have the same automatics (AOD or E4OD)? If not, you will have to swap computers and some wiring too.

Thanks.
I'm not sure about that. I'll look into it.
Will the 4 wheel drive shift lever be able to be connected to the push-button style transmission?

Your push button transfercase has an electric motor to engage 4wd, you will need to swap the transfer cases. An AOD's shifter indicator will show (PNRD"od"21) whereas an E4OD will show, (PNRD21). Just an easy way to indicate the differences.

Nope - AOD is PRN(OD)D1. E4OD is PRN(OD)21 with an overdrive lockout button.

Look on the door jamb sticker for the TRANS code. E4OD is "E", AOD is "T". E4OD is electronically controlled, AOD is not, it uses a TV cable.
