new member with trany problems i think

i have a 1990 f150 xlt lariat 4x4 shortbed with the 5.0. its a automatic. my problem is i can take off in 1st with plenty of power but when it getts to 2500 to 3000 rpm which is where is has shifted since i have had it it seems to slip out and rev up as if in neutral , after a few seconds 2nd will catch and so on.once it gets to the od its smooth and it will down shift fine too. and reverse work fine too. i have checked the transmission fluid and is fine. so is the trany shot? if so how do i know what trany i have ? door tag has a code t under trans. any help would be great. thank you

Trans code "T" is a light duty AOD. There are no electronics involved. About the only thing you can do is properly adjust the TV cable - and if this doesn't fix it, you are probably looking at a rebuild.

That's the cable/rod that goes from the throttle linkage to the tranny. There is an exact adjustment procedure.
