94 F150 4.9 stalls when cold - no code
Did you test your old TPS to confirm that it was bad? What were the results (voltage readings)? Setting the TPS is done by using a multimeter (which is also how you test them), and they are very sensitive to the adjustments. The adjustments are more of a fine tuning, so it shouldn't cause the truck to not run, it'll just run a little better when it's adjusted. You can test the TPS without pulling it off of the vehicle, you don't have to take a single bolt out to do it, either. Removing the spout plug will have the engine running at base timing, and there is nothing special in a spout plug. All a spout plug does is short the 2 wires together, so test the plug with your multimeter (use the continuity setting).

oh. thats just what the shop said. was it just fords tho? my 89 firebird had to get the MAF replaced when i had it...... it costed over $200 for it.
Different models received Mass-air at different times, Mustangs got them earlier than the trucks, and even then different engine models got the upgrade in different years. On F-150s, 5.0s got it in 94, 4.9ls got them in 95.
I did not test the old TPS. The test I saw on (Oldfuelinjection.com) looked rather complicated. If you know of an easier way, I will gladly check it.
I have a new problem, but I do not know if it is related.
The fuel pumps will not stop running. This is blocking me from being able to run a self test. I have swapped the relays around, yet there is not change. Each time I turn the key on, the fuel pumps will continue to run until I cut the key off. I say pump(s) because it is the same with the front or rear tank. I read about a possible bad PCM. I unplugged the PCM and the fuel pump would not come on. I read that this was a symptom of a bad PCM. Could this be the culprit of all my problems?

oh ok thanks. but another question...if the old school 5.0L got it, why wouldnt a newer engine? the 94 crown vic had the 4.6L V8. had the 4.6L since 92 actually. just asking. thanks
