351 w gurus needed engine rebuild project!!

Well my timing cover is leaking antifreeze so I just might pull the motor & kind of rebuild it, I found some like new gt-40 heads off a 351 boat motor like new $350 bucks , also I see on ebay there are some off a 98 302 mercury like the explorer with f 77e casting number same $$$ but then would need rebuilt, what do I look for in the head ? I see they have aftermarket ones alluminum but I dont want to spend that much money .. Thanks for help..

gt40 all the way and if u can find the matching intake and throttle body it will make them that much better. what year is the truck?
if it isnt maf id convert it
if ur doin a rebuil id go with a mild cam and or 30 over

its a 1994 , u say gt40 I know that but there are diff ones does it matter, they have 4bar etc it must mean the cc size.. I only have 115000 miles motor runs great, no need to bore other than wanting more power, but to do a cheap rebuild is a diff story..

Well said but I guess ill know more if I go that far, u never know what it looks like inside until its apart, the oil pan & pump was replaced cause it rusted out, original owner, but I would put the best pump in it anyway acc to what I end up doing to it...
