Any guess on what year the engine Is. Ya saying Its for sure a 300 straight six 4.9l or are we not sure about the 300 part. What Information can ya get from the pictures.

 

all 4.9 are 300 c.i.d.id say 80 to 86 becaus it has emissions system

 

Okay so Its for sure a ford 300 straight six 4.9l Engine. And as far as the years what should I say when I get parts. And do I say I.D. After the 300 or Just the 300.

 

id just say 83 or 84 f150 4.9

 

I thought the fuel InJection didnt start till like 86 or something.

 

yeah but that isnt fuel injected ford didnt have tbi on 4.9 so u have a single barrle carberator take the air filter off ull see what i mean

 

Whats a tbI and Is It possible than that It might be a fuel InJection but not a 4.9.

 

My dad said It used to be a fuel InJected but the motor thats In It now Is carbed so ya are right any year range now.

 

tbi is throttle body injection. like i said 83 84 tell them if u go to the parts store.
the valve cover gives it away that its a 4.9 ford.ive had alot of these truck im runnin a 4.9 right now

 

What I dont get Is If the truck had a Fuel InJection before thats like saying the before engine wasnt stock because this Is a 84 and that would be a carbed engine If It was stock. But now the engine Is carbed. Why would the previous engine be fuel InJection If fuel InJection wouldnt of been In the vehicle stock.

 

81-86 were carberated engines with 1 barrol carbs maybe the guy b4 dont know what he was talkin about. but that truck from the factory had a carberated engine

 

That why I dont get how It had a FI Engine before but now Its a carb, If anything It sounds like It should be the other way around. Is there a plate or something on the engine to Identify the make model and year of It.

 

My dad made It clear that the original motor was a carbed motor. The guy bought a fuel InJected motor and put that In the vehicle. He than took his old carbs and manifold and put those on the FI motor. Basically with that said, the fuel InJected motor would have to be atleast a 87 If Im correct and the carbs and manifold were off the original motor. With that Information can we determine the real specs of this vehicle considering It was a FI but has the old carbs and manifold on, what would the engine be considered now a FI or a carb engine.

 

he woulda had to change the head too bc efi 4.9 injectors go into the block not the manifold. it would be a carbed engine. if u find the casting number on the b lock u can look it up and see what year the engine was made
