What is this part called?

Took it off to check stuff since the truck isn't running. Inside of it is all carbon.
Took the front half with the sensor off and cleaned the other half.
So what is it and is it something that goes bad?

Is that an IAC? Idle air control. It's on top of the intake, right?

IAC.

Rock Auto sells them, and you need one. That COULD be the source of your crappy running.

IAC it is then.
I cleaned it but didn't try to start the truck again since. It was raining pretty good.
Still don't think that part would cause the truck to not run at all.

Well I had zero start today.
Is it the same part on the 5.0 and 5.8 anyone know?
If so I can get one real easy.

Nope, that one is a 4.9 only part - 90 to some 95's. Rock Auto has aftermarket ones fairly cheap, the Motorcraft is over 100 bucks.

Motorcraft # is CX1832.

I seen they have an 'oem' one for less than 30 and the motorcraft for like 100.
I try to get motorcraft when I can, but sometimes the wallet doesn't help.
My 1000 dollar medical books didn't help this situation any.

Yes, it's the same for all engines, even if it looks different. But it won't prevent the engine from starting - it only affects idle speed/quality.

Have you read this thread?

Had not found that thread surprisingly, I found a bunch of mustang ones and taurus ones and so on and so forth. My computer did not look burnt, or even really smell like anything, but I still got the no codes and fuel pump situation.
Relays were already replaced.
I'm gunna wait until friday when I go home to order a new eec, maybe by then someone will of found one in their garage haha.
Thanks steve, you always pull through.
Edit, the computer did however feel sticky all through the inside and on the case n stuff, does that mean anything?
Double edit, after looking at the pictures steve posted on that other thread, my eec may have been burnt in little spots that I didn't even notice. It wasn't all out burnt like that first one though.

They're manufactured with resin sprayed over the PC board & components to protect them from corrosion, shorting, & bridging, and that resin can make them slightly sticky in some climates.

They can burn in several ways, and not all are as dramatic or obvious as others.

Well mine was good n sticky, but must of been burnt somewhere.
I have the numbers from the new computer somewhere I'll post em later sometime.
So far it seems to be running just fine minus a slight like miss like it cuts in and out when applying slight throttle when cruising in any gear. That might just be from the new plugs and not new coil or wires yet.
