1993 f150 5.8 distributer gear

Anyone can tell me what gear I need to have on my new distributer I'm preparing to buy? I think up to 93' they used cast iron gear and then moved to steel in 94' but not 100%. Anyone know for sure?

Thanks

I'm sure the parts store can. If they can't, buy both & return the one you don't need.

They would both go in and both work for atleast a period of time.... but the wrong one would either destroy the cam gear or destroy the distributer gear since the stronger metal would eventually eat the weaker one. The metals have to be the same.... The parts store lists both as compatible for the truck but the fact is only one is and I have no clue which one haha.

I think he means to buy both, compare them to the one you currently have; then return the one that is not like the one you currently have.

If they sell you a part, and tell you it's the right one for your truck, and it does damage, they're responsible for the repairs. If they aren't qualified to sell you the right part, go to a store with better-skilled employees. Stay out of the zone...

Or buy one from a Ford dealer.
You pay more, sometimes WAY more but you get the right part.
