How many quarts?

I just bought an '86 F-150 4x4 with a 300 engine. I want to change the oil in it, but don't know how many quarts it takes. I could just drain it and see what I get back, but, the dipstick is not original and reads way over (I Hope !) what is in the engine. Could somebody give tell me how many quarts of oil this old 4.9L needs? Thanks!

The engine takes six quarts. The dipstick, even the original, will probably read full at 5 quarts. There was a tsb that said feed it 6.
