Can someone please tell me how to get the cap off the light switch and wiper switch so i can get my dash out? 84 f150

 

I'm goin back in my brain a bit but i think there is a little hole on the body of the switch if you press something in it releases the whole rod the **** is on. We're talkin your 1984 right?Like an eighth inch hole in the black housing under the dash push in a little punch in there and pull the **** out.

 

On the backside of the **** itself is a spring type deal that you squeeze toward the front and then pull the **** off. It's really hard to get with your fingers, but a pair of small pliers works great.
You can pull the **** and rod out of the headlight switch like Stewy said or take off just the ****.
