Another Dead Battery Story
Another Dead Battery Story
Since I got my 05' my 92' has done a lot of sitting. I put an Optima Red Top in it in 10/07. After sitting, it would die but would always jump off easy and hold a charge. Lately, it will not jump off easy (has to be charged to start the truck, and even then struggles) or hold a charge. I can drive for hourse and the battery wont crank the truck when I get back. Truck has never head a drain before, and both the battery and alternator test good. I am thinking the POS Optima needs to be replaced. Any suggestions?

Other than the diode, get out your test light or ammeter and look for a drain.
If there isn't one, the battery is FUBAR.
I'd bet against the Optima being bad in less than 3 years

I took the Interstate out of the 05' and put it in the 92' and it fired right up. Drove around for about 30 minutes, came home, shut it off and it fired right back up.
Maybe I wasn't clear on the problem. The Optima can sit on charge over night and still wont crank the truck. It wont crank the truck when being jumped by another truck. I really dont see how it could be anything less than a bad battery.
