Turbo 5.0L

Im fixin to do a rebuild on my 92 5.0l in my f-150. Im debating on whether or not to put a turbo on it. What would be the max PSI i could pump into that engine without doing any damage?

since you gave us as vague (little) information as possible I assume you're budget will not include forged internals

therefor you probably will not get a quality turbo kit

and you probably will not want to run premium unleaded

so um yeah 1-2 # of boost might work on your motor and make you feel cooler

A proper rebuild with hypereutectic pistons and you're probably good to around 6 PSI max. Lower the static CR a bit, O-ring the block and add a turbo-specific cam and you might get to 9 PSI. Above that point you're looking at forged guts, etc. and a lot of money.

You need to do a LOT of research. Start by reading Maximum Boost by Corky Bell and Turbochargers by Hugh McInnes

buy a good 5.0 mustang long block for a few hundred bucks. Then slap a turbo kit on it. I was doing well over 400rwhp on a 200,000 mile untouched 5.0 mustang.
